Winslow Homer

Winslow Homer was an American landscape painter and printmaker, best known for his marine subjects. He is considered one of the foremost painters in 19th-century America and a preeminent figure in American art.

Some of his most popular paintings are “The Fox Haunt”. I think in this one he’s trying to show how the fox is waiting for the birds to come closer so he can capture them, or maybe the bird are flying away from him and the fox is just watching them hopeless.
In “Kissing the Moon”, we can see how 3 men are stuck in the middle of the ocean and maybe the moon is to show that they have a lot of time stuck in there.
In “Rowing Home” we can also see a group of 3 men rowing in the middle of the ocean, and according to the name, they are going home. Maybe it’s a sequence of “Kissing the Moon”
“Snap the Whip” is a very colorful painting that shows some kids playing around. This is my favorite of the four.
