Silent Cinema


Throughout the late 1880s and early 1890s, a number of film pioneers made films using a variety of processes, and many patents were taken out on various motion picture making and screening devices.
The Lumiere Brothers, Auguste and Louis, created a method of taking color photographs, the Autochrome, that became very popular:

I find quite amusing that the Lumiere Brothers contributed a lot to what we now call photographs, the image we see above, was one of the first color photograph and I think it's beautiful.
